Problem Note 69841: The FEXIST and FILEREF functions do not return the correct values when used with the FILENAME SFTP access method statement in SAS® 9.4M7 (TS1M7)
In SAS 9.4M7, the FEXIST and FILEREF functions do not return the correct values when used with the FILENAME SFTP access method statement.
Here is sample code that triggers this issue:
filename in sftp '<file on remote ftp server>'
host="remote host"
user= ;
data _null_;
%put fexist=%sysfunc(fexist(in));
%put fileref=%sysfunc(fileref(in));
run;
If the file exists, the FEXIST function should return a value of 1 and the FILEREF function should return a value of 0.
If the file does NOT exist, the FEXIST function should return a value of 0 and the FILEREF function should return a nonzero value such as -20006.
For more information about another issue with the FILENAME SFTP statement, see SAS Note 69404.
A hot fix is planned for this issue.
